Program Coordinator Mis Rebecca Sinclair
Cassia Primary School is fortunate to offer the Cassia Learning Club Program that is proudly supported and funded by the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation. PFF are supported by BHP to facilitate this program in our school.
This program embraces positive academic, social and emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging. It is targeted at Indigenous students from Years 1 – 6 at Cassia PS, to support and embed positive attitudes towards education in the early years. The program operates after school on Monday and Wednesday from 2.20pm to 4.30pm in Room 5. In Term 1 we are operating under COVID safe guidelines with students able to participate in one session per week.
Each session starts with an afternoon snack and social catch up. Following this, students in small groups with a tutor, engage in a range of learning activities.
Each term has a ‘theme’ or topic of student interest heightening educational motivation and success at school whilst learning allowing students the opportunity to participate in hands on project based learning.
The success of the program has seen school based attendance improve and student engagement and participation into their daily educational journey heightened.
