Indonesian with Bapak Shaveen Gunendra
Welcome to LOTE-Indonesian for 2022. My name is Mr Gunendra and I will be teaching LOTE to students from Year Three to Year Six.
LOTE will be held for students once a week for one hour. Students will be working with the KETAWA Program which means laughter in Indonesian. Each unit of work has a different focus with subjects such as classroom items, ’about me’, family, food, culture and so on.

This year is exciting for our Year 1 and 2 students being their second year of learning and building on Nyangumarta at Cassia Primary School. We also have Kindy joining us in 2022 and our LOTE Nyangumarta specialist program will be taught from Kindy to year 2 exposing students to a strong language Nyangumarta commonly spoken around the Pilbara.
During our lesson using the Wangka Maya Pilbara Family Languages map we recognised there are a lot of Aboriginal Languages spoken in the Pilbara and have a word wall for students to share a word used in their language, common language used and acknowledging other cultures at Cassia Primary School. Student are given classroom instruction in Nyangumarta language and together in Nyangumarta language we learn theme key words, big book and song.
