We are proud to offer AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) as our Language Other Than English (LOTE), providing students with a rich and meaningful way to communicate, connect, and understand the world around them.
AUSLAN is a visual, spatial language used by members of the Deaf and hard of hearing community across Australia. Through learning AUSLAN, students develop not only communication skills but also a deeper appreciation of diversity, inclusion, and different ways of experiencing the world.
Our AUSLAN program is delivered through engaging, hands-on lessons that emphasise explicit teaching and guided practice. Students learn how to use hand shapes, facial expressions, and body language to communicate meaning effectively. Lessons are carefully sequenced to build skills over time, with regular opportunities for revision and application to support long-term retention.
Our AUSLAN program empowers students with a unique and valuable life skill, helping them become inclusive, informed, and effective communicators in an increasingly diverse society.
